Oh no! I'd better not be getting sick six days before Christmas! Shoo bug! Shoo virus! I'm just going to chaulk it up to skipping breakfast this morning. Somehow the sushi lunch I was so excited about last night has lost its appeal.

Yesterday, we went to the capital area human society to adopt Loyla, but she had already been adopted. Apparently she went home with a family with lots of well behaved kids, so even though I was disappointed, I was happy for her. I couldn't find another dog I really liked, but then a staff member told us that they had another run for dogs down the hallway that we completely missed last time (and I think most people miss). And there we meet Chevy. She is a german shepard mix, all brown hair, about 45 lbs, the longest nose in the world (I kept telling her she looked like a horse). Her eyes were really pretty looking in a different kind of way- they are brown but her pupils are so large they almost reflect blue. She is very sweet tempered (if you sit down, she just cuddles up to you) and her description said she liked to watch movies and go for car rides, so I told Shannon he had a new buddy. They do all sorts of behavior tests on the dogs before they come up for adoption, and her engery test said she could be "green [moderate energy]...couch potato". Haha. So we adopted her. She couldn't come home with us tonight because she hadn't been spayed yet. So she is getting spayed today, and I am leaving work early to pick her up. It will be could, because I can introduce her to her new crib and give her a bath before Shannon gets home. Hopefully, I can make a vet appointment ASAP for her as well. We also got her a kennel last night- it is a fabric one which we choose over a metal cage since she is a dog and supposidly already crate trained, when we visit and take the dog, it collapses really small and flat for travel (and it is weatherproof so it can be outside when camping- it even has tent stakes!), and it looks so much nicer. Usually these are really expensive, but we found one at Solman's for only $70 because it was the last one in stock. The same one at Petco was $150. Score.
OK, I am going to go be super productive at work so my boss doesn't get cranky that I'm leaving early. I worked >50hrs this week, so I don't really care too much though.

The more I attend MSU the more I am estatic that I went to a small liberal arts school for undergrad. Seriously, how can you particpate in class discussions when your class is 100 people? How are you expected to get letters of recommendation is classes of 400? How can you schedule classes when it takes more than 30 minutes to walk across campus?

I had 15 people in discussion based classes...walked 15 minutes between classes...knew everyone of my professors and they knew me by name...

Furthermore, teaching sophmores scares me about the future.

"How do I turn this on?" -student, holding a reponse pad (think remote control)

"How about the power button?" -me, trying very hard not to be sacrastic

Haha! I SO got you with that snowball! Right in the face too! (and since this is a special snowball, it is effective in even hot places like South Carolina! so there!)
It is supposed to snow over 8" in GR tonight. Ugg. We are leaving at 5:30am to get to work on time tommorrow.
I have been working my butt off for my committee meeting on Wednesday. Seriously. The only break I took was DMB (which was a lot of fun by the way. Thanks to Bruce (happy b-day Bruce!) Carol and I got a DMB pick that either dave or his hot bass player actually used. We have shared custudy of it- I have weekends). I almost don't care anymore. Almost. But my boss does, and she is really riding me on this. And I thought Grad school was going to be delaying life and work. Ha! I was so naive...
Which reminds me, I should be getting back to work...
But before I go, here is a shout out to everyone who is stressed out right now. It's ok. Yes, it is depressing right now because of (insert said hell here), but in time it will pass. I am here if you need me. I care for you all. And remember, Christmas will be here soon. Don't worry about money, or family, or finals. Just remember the reason for the season, and if you are not religous, it is a time of love and support for fellow men. Hang in there.
